Oct 2, 2019 · The shape of a delta is strongly affected by tidal currents and wave action, which move new sediment along the shoreline. Areas with little wave or tidal action often resemble a bird foot, with rounded lobes growing around each channel. Where there are strong tidal currents, the channels erode, creating islands between them.
