The New Jersey Devils headed north of the boarder on Saturday to face the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre. It was the first of many games without Jacob Markstrom as the Devils’ No.1 goaltender will be sidelined 4-6 weeks.

Jesper Bratt had a goal and an assist and Jake Allen made 29 saves for New Jersey (28-17-6), which won its second straight after four consecutive losses (0-2-2). Captain Nico Hischier scored but left in the third period with an undisclosed injury.

Suzuki won a faceoff back to Kaiden Guhle, who passed to Carrier. His slap shot eluded Allen, tying the game at 3 just over 3 1/2 minutes into the third period. It was Carrier’s first goal since being traded to Montreal from the Nashville Predators on Dec. 18, 2024.
