The U.S. immigration system isn’t ready for the havoc and expense this bill could unleash. But the real pain will be felt by the immigrants the bill targets.

The fearmongering bill "fails to reckon with a global culture that tolerates and perpetuates violence against women and girls," one advocate told reporters. "Instead, it puts immigrant survivors at risk.

Party spending leaders are warning the bill is unworkable in its current form and will cost far more to implement than past estimates.
