As the Trump administration takes aim at DEI and major retailers are dialing it back, Costco is swimming against the tide at shareholder meeting.

Costco shareholders voted down an anti-DEI proposal just days after President Trump issued sweeping new rules for federal agencies.

The Costco board of directors unanimously voiced its support for the retailer to keep its diversity, equity, and inclusion practices without further evaluation. The National Center for Public Policy Research think tank proposed that the company evaluate the “financial risks to shareholders” that DEI poses.
