By winning the series against Mississippi State, the Longhorns enter this week in first place in the SEC race.

After a rocky start to the weekend, No. 1 Texas Longhorns softball clinched its third Southeastern Conference series win against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. For the first time in Starkville, Texas got runs on the board first.

After dropping the first game of the series, Texas was able to turn things around and win two straight games on the road. Texas outscored Mississippi State 14–5 in the final two games, remaining undefeated in conference series and claiming its 34th season victory.

The 12th ranked Crimson Tide won their series over 9th ranked Oklahoma two games to one over the weekend. The Tide prevailed in games one and three while the Sooners took game two. Alabama improved to 25-4 overall and 6-3 in the SEC.

Jason Torres and Will Hodo homered for Alabama, who took two of three from Oklahoma in a Top 25 college baseball and SEC weekend series.

But few thought the No. 2 Oklahoma softball team would suffer such a fate this early in the season. OU dropped its series finale against No. 10 Tennessee on Sunday, 5-3, and dropped a Southeastern Conference series for the first time in school history.
