The Bloomington area has a 90% chance for snow on Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis. Jason Puma, meteorologist with the NWS in Indianapolis, said the Bloomington area is projected to see accumulation of one to three inches.

Roads south of Bloomington are beginning to be covered in snow, as seen on Indiana Department of Transportation snow plow cameras. Just after 9 a.m., a photograph from a snow plow on I-69 near Washington, Indiana, showed snow accumulating on the interstate. Another plow on I-69 near Crane showed snow is just beginning to accumulate.

Meter parking is free throughout Bloomington, but that may not last much longer. Desiree DeMolina, Communications Director for the Office of the Mayor, said the city waiving payments until at least this Sunday, due to heavy snow remaining around many meters.

Aaron Updike, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis said the Bloomington area is expected to get between 2 and 4 inches of snow. Southern parts of Indiana could see even more, with Bedford projected to get close to 4 inches and areas closer to Louisville possibly seeing 6 inches.

Indiana's first snowstorm of the year ... drizzle will continue in the Vincennes region and hit the Bloomington area by 6 p.m. Indianapolis is forecast to receive heavy snowfall until midnight.

Aaron Updike, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, said so far this year, Indianapolis has gotten 15.7 inches of snow, which is unusual. He said the last time Indianapolis saw this much snow this early in the year was 2014.

Most areas along the I-70 corridor finished in the 6"-8" range, with the more numerous 9"-11" reports south of I-70.

Nearly 10 inches of snow fell in the Bloomington area on Sunday and Monday, and forecasters expect the snow to remain for a while. Jason Puma, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, said the snow probably will stick around through the whole week or beyond.
