Andrei Svechnikov scored the game-winner late in the third period to lift the Hurricanes to the series victory with a 3-1 win, ending Washington’s season.

Behind another solid performance from Frederik Andersen in net and a late third-period charge punctuated by an Andrei Svechnikov goal, the Hurricanes downed the Capitals in five games.

While the Hurricanes heavily outshot the Capitals in Game 4, Washington was able to hang around, cutting a mutli-goal deficit to just one. However, Carolina was able to withstand the late rally, coming away with a 5-2 win.
