Google is bringing smart home controls in Gemini to everyone. The Google Home extension in the Gemini app is adding a few new features, in addition to letting you adjust your smart lighting, thermostat, speakers, and other compatible devices as long as they’re connected to your Google account.

Rolling out to all users this week, the new integration lets you ask the AI bot to turn lights on or off or control other smart devices.

Google's Gemini AI smart home controls, initially previewed in November 2024, are now rolling out globally. Previously focused on apps like Google Workspace and YouTube, Gemini now supports managing Google Home-connected devices via its Android and iOS apps.

Google wants Gemini to control your smart home devices and has upgraded the Gemini app with a new Google Home extension to manage all of your connected devices the same way you'd ask the AI assistant to answer any other query.

Google Home Gemini extension is rolling out to all users for simplified smart home control. Gemini allows natural language commands for smart home devices, such as lights and thermostats. You can now also use Gemini to control non-sensitive smart home devices from the lock screen.
