The Washington Nationals fired manager Dave Martinez and general manager Mike Rizzo on Sunday, ending one of the longest partnerships in baseball that included a World Series title in 2019 — the first in franchise history — and the second-worst record in baseball in the six years that followed.

The Nationals will now have an interim general manager making the No. 1 pick in next week's draft and handling the team's trade deadline.
