The Macy's department store at Providence Place has apparently been spared from closure. The store does not appear on a list of closures released by the retailer on Thursday. The Providence Place location's future has been in question.

The Macy’s at Place is not among the retailer’s planned store closures announced Friday, though its future at the struggling mall remains uncertain.

Department store operator Macy’s said today it will close 66 store locations as part of a strategy it announced last year.
