KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) — Hope of finding survivors of the catastrophic flooding in Texas dimmed Tuesday, a day after the death toll surpassed 100, and crews kept up the search for people missing in the aftermath.

At least 107 people are dead across six counties in catastrophic flash flooding in central Texas. NBC National News Correspondent Morgan Chesky is on the ground in Kerrville, Texas as rescue teams continue to comb through piles of debris in search of survivors.

Rescuers searched the Guadalupe River for survivors of the Texas floods that killed more than 100 people over the July Fourth holiday weekend, with an unknown number of people still missing. The basin area was crowded with families and campers preparing to enjoy the holiday when pounding rain brought about catastrophic flash floods just before dawn Friday.

Despite officials urging civilians to stay away, volunteers have joined the search for missing people and the cleanup on the Guadalupe River.
