Catholic churches across metro Atlanta had their first Sunday services since the election of the new pope. Channel 2’s Bryan Mims was at Christ the King Cathedral, where worshippers are energized by their new leader.

Excitement and pride filled the offices of the Archdiocese of Atlanta on Thurday as staff and clergy gathered to witness a moment of history.

Pope Leo XIV held his first Sunday noon blessing. There were nearly 150,000 people in attendance. FOX 5 Atlanta interviewed people locally about their take on the new American Pope.
