Pocahontas Island Museum, located on the historic Pocahontas Island in Petersburg, VA, once a stop on the Underground Railroad, is home to a treasure trove of artifacts and other historical items of interest that showcases over 200 years of Black history. Black History and Civil War expert, Richard Stewart, is the museum's founder and orator who delights in taking museum visitors on an oral journey of Black history in Petersburg, VA. Admission is free, however cash and historical artifact donations are extremely welcomed. Please be sure to call ahead to schedule a date and time for your visit.

I grew up on Pocahontas Island. Left home to join the military in 1975. The house in the photo is the house I grew up in as a child. Great job by Mr Richard with the museum.Full review by Y2049QVrichardb
