Take a moment to rest, relax, and refuel in The Switchboard Café during your visit, with food freshly prepared onsite each day using the finest seasonal ingredients. Our café, located in the historic room once used by switchboard operators during the Second World War, is open daily from 10am-5pm. During your visit browse our wide range of inspiring and unique gifts, from books, clothing, and accessories to vintage posters, homeware, toys, and souvenirs. All inspired by IWM's collections and the stories they tell.

If you love history, especially WW2 history, this was great. Unbelievable, that the place was left , as is, in August 1945, as if the office would reopen the next day. So many amazing items to view.…Full review by seano20

Great visit to this must see museum! They have a lot of stuff to touch so it’s also great for kids to explore. It was fascinating learning all about Churchill.Full review by 796laurens

I would have no problem taking a 4 year old and a 5 year old there… the museum has some interactive buttons to push on maps— they may get restless downstairs but may like looking through all the windows etc…just make sure they are not tired or hungry and they will be fine.. you should not miss this! It is amazing to see history just captured in time like this!!

There are stairs and an elevator. It is handicapped accessible.

We did the self tour. When we visited on a weekday morning there wasn’t a line. With the self tour you get a listening device that is very useful.
